Generative AI Quiz
Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are built on large language models, and understanding roughly how those models work makes it much easier to use them well and spot when they are wrong.
Quick answer
This quiz checks your understanding of generative AI and large language models: what they are trained to do, key terms like tokens and context windows, and common misconceptions people carry into their first few months of using AI tools.
Who this is for
Good for anyone who uses ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar tools regularly and wants to confirm their mental model of how these tools actually work is accurate, not just familiar.
What this covers
- What a large language model is trained to do
- Tokens and context windows
- Why models sometimes hallucinate
- The difference between generative AI and a search engine
- Basic terminology used across generative AI tools
Recommended starting point: AAI-1: AI Foundations (20 questions, ~20 min).

This is one standalone example, not part of the real question bank. The full assessment includes single-choice, multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching, ordering, scenario, and other question formats.
What does a large language model's "context window" refer to?
Why: The context window is the amount of text, measured in tokens, that a model can take into account at one time. Anything outside that window is effectively invisible to the model during that response.
How scoring works
Each level scores you by competency area, not just overall percentage, so you can see specifically whether your gap is in foundational concepts, prompting, or something else.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which level is this quiz part of?
This topic is mainly covered in AAI-1 AI Foundations, with more applied prompting depth in AAI-2.
Does it cover a specific model like GPT or Claude?
No. Questions focus on concepts that apply across generative AI tools generally, not one specific product.
